Yo yo, highly anticipated main event battle! Ha. I read Jack's verse first because for some reason Virb has gone first every time, so just to change it up..

That first bar was legitimately CRAZY. Best I've seen from Jack ever, and I would imagine it being a completely insane haymaker at a real battle event, because of the moment of silence lead up and the authenticity behind it. But on top of that it had a crazy double entendre with this "check from Uncle Sam" that was just perfect. So way better and more forceful start than the last battle.

Date prediliction .. That's a good rhyme, and the setups were also good, but I'm really not a fan of remixing bars, especially when there's only 24 bars in total. It feels like wasting precious space for something new. And what's supposed to be the grandeur of repeating anyway? It only really makes sense like e.g. Iron Solomon repeating "worst kinda whore" because it's a classic bar from 15 years prior. Just repeating some shit from your last battle seems more like you can't come up with something new.

Staged intervention.. Why are you doing this to me, Jack? You've now wasted 7 lines on straight filler, repeating a made up bar about Virb being a pedophile. It's uncreative. Maybe I'd look the other way if there was some kind of semantically interesting content to make up for it, but you're just saying it at face value. Also, as far as I remember, Virb said he was fine with 24 bars if the ppl voted for that, so the angle is super contrived already.

1st grade reading class: This has a bit of the semantically interesting content I was talking about, cuz you're saying something more than just "you're a pedophile" by playing with the words. I think something a little more grammatical than "little segments of verb" could have been said, but that's a minor detail.

Darling Clementine: What a horrible song, lol. Sounds like a German Schlager, which makes sense, cuz there's even German on the cover on youtube. Clementine and Ulf bars: Fair enough. Doesn't blow me away, but you did use the names of his dogs creatively.

Virb conjugation: I guess it's ok, but it's also very simple and basic, apropos of accusing Virb of talking kiddy shit. Like I e.g. thought of a "verb" bar:

But in the chat I felt like I was correcting English papers by foreignors with how bad Virb handled complements.

Since a verb phrase in syntactical analysis handles all the following complements, e.g. object, indirect object, etc. But yeah, obviously it's more about what I'm actually saying, not just the "grammar" layer, since it's almost a little bit contrived to say that foreignors handle indirect objects poorly. But anyway, I thought of some other grammar shit too, but basic verb conjugation written out like this wasn't really on my radar.

Feeling the flow in the knife lines.

Second installment of knife lines was pretty confusing to me, tbh. You didn't really explain a lot in the footnotes. I got that Xome was supposed to be pronounced some, but looking it up, apparently it's a real estate agency, so I guess it's supposed to by pronounced "home"? But either way, X-men has an X, sure, and then you replace the s for an X in a random word. Maybe I'm just stupid, but I'm not really getting it. Sorry. And how are you going to pick your teeth with a shoulder blade? Wtf, Jack? You're really making it hard on me here.

Overall: After that first haymaker, I was really amped to read an ill verse here in the final, also because that first bar, and others you've done, prove that you can write on a very high level. So when you followed up with repititions and 4 bar setups with few punches, and with the punches not really hitting me in the gut, I was honestly quite disappointed. But you've also been writing a lot of dope bars in the cypher and seems like you've been busy elsewhere too, so it just feels like you've been uninspired for this.

Okay, let's see what Virb has.

Hahahahg from just finishing critiquing Jack's verse to that first setup made me fucking ROFL. It flows insanely well and just flips the whole soldier angle effortlessly. On a nerdy note, the halfway anagram (?) or literal explication of consonance somehow make it rhyme even better, in a way that's still percieved on the first reading. The punchline was dope too, so once again a good start.

Setup bars in the next lines seem a little forced. Didn't feel the star/state thing, but it's not important for the punch, which is good.

The whole military song stanza was dope. It's a little frustrating not knowing the songs you're talking about, but with putting the explanations inside the lines too, it works really well.

Cost Jack toes: A little forced, but still works. JC/AK: Great.

Kabul back: The flow's delicious and everything makes perfect sense.

The flow is on another level in general, hisses, cracks, it just SOUNDS good. A way different reading experience than Jack's verse. Didn't know there was a Mackintosh coat, lol, and didn't know the word flak either, but makes sense. The Jack-it reference is also a good example of not just regurgitating, but referencing in order to say something new, and even better since Jack spent 8 bars rebuttling that.

The go to town punch was dope. I feel like it's very down to Earth and taken out of Virb's daily life experience, so once again adds some authenticity. And again: There are nice flowing and/or semantically interesting things in every punch. Holy ground has an interestingly symbolist, almost Knut Hamsun-esque "connection with the Earth and the soil and the nature" kind of vibe.

Overall: The flow was crazy throughout, which is super important in my book. And it was packed with punches and interesting wordplay. Barely anything I was reading through and just rolling my eyes or sighing at, like unfortunately I did with Jack's verse.

So I'm gonna have to give it to Virb. But great overall battle, with the 1st round definitely being the closest, and Virb taking the W in the last two, imo.

Glad Bag (no pun intended) put up $ for both players, though, so nobody get's completely jerked.

Right lads I’m gonna start this off by saying what a trilogy this final has been and fully worthy of uncle Sam’s bag. I felt this was the weakest battle of the three but truly I don’t know how either of you had anything left for each other after the past two matches so it’s natural. I think jacks opener was LOTB and possibly LOTT. After reading virbs verse and thinking it’s not on par with his previous two to read that Uncle Sam bar I thought holy shit jacks gonna smoke him here, but then jacks verse fell off too - the conjugate virb bar was dope and picked it back up but then fell off again after that. Virbs battle plan bar was probably 2nd best line of the battle but not much in it between that and conjugating virb line. I feel like the real decider in this battle is despite having the best bar jack missed more punches whilst virbs remained a bit more consistent so it’s just a decision for me now does jacks Uncle Sam bar negate the many that didn’t resonate with me enough to take the W? In this case I don’t think it quite does, if jack had one more line I fucked with I think he’d have taken this but I’m feeling virb on this one.

Thank you both for giving us this trilog, I haven’t broken down votes in this much depth in years and it’s a testament to how much I’ve enjoyed both your work

Didn't catch the reference til I read the explanation but not a bad closer, remixing the last section was creative

Virb came with a really well rounded verse, technical throughout and everything worked. Jack's verse had that je ne sais quoi that made it feel animated, hard to explain how but it was more engaging in places. I think this is gonna come down to preference, virb packed more wordplay & intricacies in but Jack was more entertaining. Jack started off better & Virb had the stronger closer. The different approaches make it really hard to judge, styles deffo make fights. I'm gonna re-read the verses the other way round tomorrow & point-score it again. Salute to both of you though, the tourney has been a bit flimsy at times but this final exceeded expectations.

Explination Before Vote:

I understand that some explanations are needed when there are inside jokes or personals, but beside that i did not see much wordplay, the multies were lacking throughout with both. Virb based his whole verse about Hallows military background which got played out. Hallows pedo shit, then the next line he's talking about peeping in a 1st grade class. I feel like both could have put a lot more effort. As for the battle aspect, Hallow won. Hallow had better set ups, better multies, and better punches. I felt like Virb was all over the place, and there was too much explanation needed. The whole battle lacked heavy hitting punches which is what battles are, but if anybody had the set ups into the punches it was Hallow. This is battle rap, and punches win battle rap.

It's hard for me to call this shit. I think the best punch of the whole battle was Hallows first punch. Virb was a bit more intricate, but I felt his lacked set ups and punches. All around I feel like Hallow had a better grasp on the task at hand, which is to set up and punch. Nothing necessarily made me go wow that was raw as fuck, but it was a cool battle. I feel like Hallow delivered the better battle verse.
