what does album sales have to do with hip hop? the music is still good whether you buy it or download it. MONEY isn't hiphop you retard. Hiphop is an expression of words meant to inspire the people listening.

Dude.. vinyl and CD sales are down... BUT MP3 and digital downloads where ppl actually pay are way up.... hell on Chamillionaires breakthru album I think he made more off of people downloading his RINGTONES. These ppl are still getting paid, and paid well.

Do you all not listen...
I am currently majoring in music business....
If illegal downloads were a problem,
tell me why overall record sales for 2007 was the HIGHEST EVER IN HISTORY...and then 2008 OUT-DID THAT, meaning ...
That 2008 a year of poor economy and illegal downloading is still intact beat out the previous year..and became the highest grossing record sales in the history of the music business
LET ME REPEAT IT ONE MORE TIME...
2008 HAD THE HIGHEST RECORD SALES IN THE HISTORY OF THE MUSIC BUSINESS
Re: The internet killed Hiphop
YES, physical copies have decreased over the years....but physical copies will never truly be replaced... Actually Vinyls in 2008 almost double in sales from previous years...and Cd's only went down because LEGAL DOWNLOADING went up like 30+% from last year alone...

Well.... I didn't contribute to that if you mean CD sales lol...I'm going to be real.. I don't know why bother still switching CDs back and forth when an MP3 player does so much more even in a car... lol... it sure wasn't me! I do pay for downloads though occasionally especially if I really respect the artist.

Cuz everybodys a rapper. not every body is makin millions. alot of rappers are thousand airs.
If a 100 rappers sells millions. its a good year
if a million rappers sell a thousand a piece. its a great year

Re: The internet killed Hiphop
Edgar - You do not know what your talking about and I say that politely..
I am not talking about rap or hiphop...im talking about MUSIC.
The most album sold last year did not even come from a rapper/hiphop artist... NOT EVEN CLOSE!
