your settings. read the post from alcatrackz on recording in cool edit, it tells you all the exact settings.

why wouldn't you think converting to mp3 wouldn't lose alot of quality?... Mp3 is the shittiest quality there is so ... so going from wav to mp3 = quality loss ..
can't really help that.

Get Pro Tools.
if your losing a lot of qulity then its prolly your bitrate make sure its at 128
