Rode K2 > Rode NT1-A..by a lightyear.
I would invest in some better monitors though. Maybe some Dynaudio BM5A's.
I got a buddy named drop dead Fred, He ain't really real, he my imaginary friend,
My mama said that I shoulden't talk to him, Cause I look crazy when I start to fuck with him..
I'd listen to the mic before you purchase it if you are really unsure and are asking questions about its worth here.

If you have the chance to try it out..then go for it and see how it sounds. It is a great microphone, though. Since it's a tube microphone it should give you a nice warm sound.

oh yup churz sounds great so i should be sweet with the emu 1820 no need to get another preamp? (hopes) haha
also when im recording with the rode nt1a and the 1820 i get the input level so im peaking at 10db-8db then after a while recording the input level starts getting weaker any ideas about whats happing there?

The pre-amps that come with the EMU 1820 aren't exactly top of the line but they should do the job.

maybe in your pc's volume control panel setting the recording volume for your input isn't turned all the way up.

(You should all check this out)
you actually won't use the pres on the 1820... kinda... the power supply that comes with the K2 will be enough... it'll be like plugging in a guitar with a amp already on... to the 1820... you'll still use the a/d d/a convertors which is sexy... and it'll sound alot better than the NT1...
you don't need to try it out...
which is better...
blazer... or... Yukon..?
Yukon...
blazer = NT1
Yukon = K2...
AlieNation
..GrindHouse..
