Instrument levels?

Man, I wish I read about this earlier. I read on a site about mixing and ish. They said that your kick should be 0db, snare -2db, Synth Pads -20db, and a couple more. I gave it a run and set everything to right db levels, the quality sounded great. A lot more headroom. I use to put all my melodies to -7db like a dumbass so people wouldn't say this beat is louder than that. (People would still say so though)

My question is, is there another site that tells me more instruments and what db levels they should be.

^Don't take my word on this... I read this late last night. I think it said it's a good starting point. Not something you should set everytime on your beats type of thing.

it won't work for every beat... it's a basic plan though... just to help you out... to come up with some kind of decent mix... it's decent to start with...

Okayyy... it's just that my ears are kinda retarded. (Or my $20 headphones) Lately, I've been getting "this instrument sounds way too loud, lower it down." (Didn't happen to my last beat tho)
