How to sing when you can't?

Is it possible to sing when you have weak singing abilities. (In a chorus) Timbo sounds real nice when he's "singing", but I don't think he's actually singing. I don't want to use autotune. I just want to know, for a chorus, how to sound nice as if you were singing. How should I take my 3 takes for the chorus? (And is there a certain way to mix it?)

EDIT: I'd also consider Trick Daddy's "Bet That" song, the guy in third verse "singing". But I'm thinking of something more high pitched.

he's actually singing... he's not good but makes it work plus there's always someone singing with him... there isn't really a way to sound like you're singing if you can't... you just gotta go for it... it's all based on your voice... best chance if you can't... hire someone who can...

Ugh but I hate to use autotune. I can like... barely sing. If you hear me live, it's like nooooo. But maybe after the mix it might sound decent. Pff I dunno. I sound go if I'm singing quitely, but if I try to sing at a presentable level, it's bad.

I'm a huge 50 fan. I got everything of him ya know. I know how his voice is. By my knowledge, he has 5/10 singing ability. He sounds dope on that track though. Is there any specific way to mix like that?

singing can be improved..thats why they have singing lessons n shit...do some googling on that...obviously theres only so much you can polish a turd...but if you were an ok singer you could prolly turn that into decent

there is no way to make you sound better singing with a mix. autotune is a pitch corrector not a vocal coach...

but yea like timbo always has back up singers making him sound better then what hes actually singing.
so invest in lessons if u want it that bad

I'm not a very good singer, but on several tracks I sing... and have gotten better... if you can just barely sing, practice will make you better... and lessons obviously...

use auto-tune but not the tpain effect

try finding your pitch and hitting the notes u want as close as possible and then use auto-tune to correct them as much as you can
with mixing it should sound decent

Ok well.... I'ma just post all my questions in this thread.

You know when you record a verse. Then you go record again on top of that verse, but you only say the last few words of each bar. I hear some people say, "just do it right on top like that". I hear other people say "record your verse, then 2 other takes of you saying the last few words of each bar, then pan one a little to the left, and another a little to the right." Which way is the proper way?

^ i don't think there is a proper way.
it all has to do with how you mix it and how you want to sound.
