As the desert consumes , every one of my men
War is a sacrifice , why must it be of a friend
Pray to God for help, rejected time and again
Everyday on patrol , aimlessly searching
Bombs going off , can't find the insurgents
Sniper rifle ready , to cap off a couple turbins
The sun scorching , feels like Hell's Gates
Pulse racing , my heart's the Belmont Stakes
Can barley breathe , my whole body aches
But a job's a job , continue with the mission
Though they strong , my squad's in shit condition
Been 3 days from camp , we low on ammunition
Private needs medicine , miles of sand no physician
Choking on his own saliva , can't find the oasis
Supposed to be Devil Dogs, fear's on their faces
Madness is what we feel , a bunch of head cases
Forgetting the comforts , a bed, shower and food
Death is upon us , pretty much this group's screwed
Radio outta range , the corporal begins to feud
Can't take the pressure , tears fall from his eyes
Talking bout his daughter , never said his goodbyes
She's the world to him , Dad may not reach stateside
We all feel his pain , all of us got kids and loving wives
Together we share , a harmonious , loneliness cry
Battlefields stretch for days , when will we see our own
Hours, weeks from now? or in a body bag on the way home
United we stand , brothers in arms amongst this warzone
