my city named itself Troy..home of Uncle Sam
war veteran of WWI, fearfully
compared to the city that never sleeps.. we never sleep
when a pre-teen is allowed to buy a dutch and/or blunt at the local corner store..
when 75 cent single ciggarettes are sold at the Arabic gas station down the street..
crime is commited behind closed doors, corrupt cops who are a part
cold city, of course since its upstate New York
whats colder than that?
in high school.. the school officer is punched brutally by a angry black girl
in high school.. when there is 15 fights in one day due to gang troubles..
in high school.. its Troy High, open to walk in and out during school hours.. nobody cares
in high school.. when my bestfriend is jumped by 8 gang members in school..
this is a troubled city, but we accept them and you become a stronger person by living there
we call it Troy tough..
things are seen that are not to be seen by a person my age.. stabbings, ive seen men jumped..
mid-December, while walking down town.. you are smoking a ciggarette..
a poor man asks you for a cig.. half is gone.. you just give him your last..
you know why? it was christmas.. i felt for him
i guess thats kind of fiendish.. but not in Troy
other suburban highschoolers around the area think you are a scumbag per se..
almost fighting all of the employees at a local pizza place for stealing a soda..
while they werent looking.. and having to pull a golf club because there was 8 of them..
Crazy.. such a small city compared to others, but compacted with violence..
come to Troy.. all of this is true..
