yo,
.
.
The child-like innocence we're desperate to pass -
then regret, years later that it ended so fast.
like when Hades led Hercules to death in a flash,
flames erupting in their path until Pegasus crashed.
broken dreams sit, mended in a sensitive cast,
leads a man tied down for life to question his past;
but answers bring resentfulness, pressing him back,
that's why mid-life crises are repetitive fads ..
protected from lamps, always stay in the dark,
cuz it might soften the spear tips that i'm taking to heart,
hatred imparts itself when all awakening starts,
thats the way the cookie crumbles when you break it apart.
sacred as crosses in the halls of a chapel,
are all those lost thoughts once your carcass unravels ..
now empty as bronze armor lining walls in a castle,
dead space, soldier's souls are still marching to battle.
in love with the knowledge that incompetence cancels,
no illumination brings a warmth as calm as its' shadows.
bad news often will travel at light particle's speed,
so there's a firewall built for any audible feed,
their target is me; media outlet connectors
every sense i possess reveals a thousand receptors,
loud & uncensored, razor-sharp fangs of reality bites,
family fights over salaries for half of the price,
i can't handle the light! or the truth it accompanies,
skipped my last court date deciding who gets the custody.
starved for affection, the solution is gluttony -
bills piling up, cash past due for the subsidy..
bedroom mirror reflects, i catch a view of it suddenly:
avoiding eye contact with the dude that's in front of me.
so don't turn on the light .. it's too much fun in the dark,
cause we can't know we're in hell if we know nothing at all..
