Demetry
Black Frozen Oceans holding images emboldened,
By the painful memories and golden moments,
Locked from being stolen by icy tears,
They witnessed the struggle through all those dicy years,
Last glimmer, a star covered by clouds in the night sky,
Extinguished last vestige of those bright eyes,
A slight sigh, my best friends battle has ended,
after treacherous journeys, and countless defended,
Weary of that trek through snow drifts and howling winds,
but a plan of vengeance sparks a scowling grin,
Found my brother in arms huddled next to an extinguished fire,
Covered by snow he lost his war for warmth anguished and tired,
His body temperature dropped, heart beat slowed,
But the passion for his country this feat showed,
The farm house stood strong against Russia’s wintery breath,
but the lack of its roof attributed to Demetry’s death,
My progress slowed made it to the meeting a night too late,
all while Demetry’s fight took shape,
I cleared the collections of frozen matrixes from his stiff frame,
Just to see father winter snuff out his lit flame.
Those eyes damn deep, black like barren wells,
The countryside echos from my uncaring yells,
repairing health, my own arm slashed in a fight,
on my way to his graveyard, his last campsite...
in a past life I would attempt the feeble feet,
of praying where the sky and the steeple meet,
but of all the deaths witnessed in this wicked war,
made my soul ache and my body sick and sore..
So I bent down and hoped god could hear me from this spot,
and prayed for another fallen soldier winter got...
Lord look after this man this his end of days,
All of the soldiers deserving.. Demetry praise...
