There is no way Kanye is more influential. NO FUCKIN WAY. Kanye has and never will be on Jays level in terms of rapping and music making. Jay is a very savvy businessman and just in general a clever guy..Kanye time and time again does stupid ass fuckin shit. I mean look at WTT fior an example, you can see whos "influence" fucked up that album(not that it was to bad). Jay is clicked up with apple,itunes and is pretty much revolutionising how music is distributed and listened to. Its a no brainer, Jay is alot of rungs on the lader in terms of influential people.

I believe he is more powerful. While Jay-Z is more accomplished, better rapper, etc.. at this moment his star power is in decline. Kanye West is rising and has demonstrated the ability to adapt to his current musical surroundings if NOT setting the standards. He is also way more controversial which means people will be watching him a lot more than they will watch Jay-Z who has disappeared off the face of the bloggers planet being he isnt stabbing anyone or selling coke anymore. Is it just me or has jay-z owned one of the most popular clothing lines in the hip-hop community and jay also has always been in spotlight but the few years after the black album. Although, ye is getting to jays level he has not yet matched jay fame wise or signings. Jay signed j.cole who is own his way to gold already if his sells stay up in the first week. Now, kayne has also signed a good artist in BIG SEAN. But jay has J COLE which is better and didn't even have no promotion for his album at all until the day it dropped so what does that tell you about jay that just being his artist his influence on hip-hop can alone get you 300k to 500k sales. Ye cannot do that for a artist cause his fan base is not on HOV's level yet.
i believe Kanye West is more powerful and influential then Jay Z because he's more relevent. Jay Z's the old man that every now and then he lets the industry know he still has it and he's still one of the best, but at the end of the day nobody really cares, they just accept it and go on with their life. Kanye west people reflect on his music and react to what he does, like the Taylor Swift incident. and his last album where he had the Good Fridays then everybody wanted to do that for a while. hes just more relevent if you ask me
