Yet another successful Golden Glove Tourney, this one was run by the one and only God of War. I’m sure that Token appreciated the break. Had some of RB’s best in this tourney and we were graced by the presence of Allen Knight. Hopefully, this stays active and we start getting more people involved, because this truly is a lot of fun to do and it is very competitive. Anyways, here is the run down on what went down, who champed (although we already fucking know cause he’s champed something every week for the last month) and the top ten punches of the battle.

Competitors:

Composure-
Mainly a topical cat, but battles in 1-2 and has the ability to drop some witty lines that are very entertaining to say the least.

King-
Currently, King is the reigning FL Champ, competes in LLL, undefeated in the 1-2 playoffs, and this guy is no joke. Very respected battler on RB.

Styles-
Mr. Styles, the one and only… This guy can drop fire. He trolls around FL and doesn’t take shit from anyone, because he can compete with the best of them.

Token-
RB’s Administrator and a very gifted textcee who is the current LLL season champ. Topical, poetry, this guy can do it all.

Flash-
AKA- NBA… guys has been elevating and impressing like crazy. Been in a few Golden
Glove Tourneys before, so everyone knows he is a threat.

Allen Knight-
Straight from NC and came to RB, because he KNOWS RB is where it’s at! All jokes aside, Allen drops fire with every keyed verse, and ether if he’s got time… one of the favorites of the tourney.

Jeffry-
Probably the newest member competing in this tourney, and that is just what he did. Jeff cruises around FL and helps out every chance he gets. He’s elevated like crazy, and trying to prove it here.

Round 1 Battle Reviews:


A.T. vs. Composure:
Composure came out with a key that involved some outrageous lines. He had funny ones, good ones, and some that make you think WTF! A.T. knew what Comp. was capable of and dropped a decent verse that the voters felt were just overall better and ended up winning the battle 6-0. Nice try, Comp. better luck next time, homie!

Mr. Styles vs. King:
Styles came out swinging in this one, with all the voters agreeing he had 2 good punches and 2 ok punches, King was barely able to edge this battle out with 2-3 quotables, depending on the voter, but all agreed that King had the harder hits, while being sure to point out that he BARELY took it. King won 4-0. Good battle guys!

Token vs. Flash:
Yet another dope battle, Flash seemed to run out of time and dropped only six bars. We all have bad days and writers block, but unsure of the reason why he didn’t drop up to par, I’m going to assume it was one of those. Token drew concepts from the last tourney, did nameplays and developed some nice punches. Token took this rather easily, 7-0. Better luck next time Flash!

Jeffry vs. Allen Knight:
Jeff started out swinging and really impressed, not only myself, but everyone voted on this battle and even got props from GoW. Sadly for him, as good as his verse was, he needed to drop at the level of Token and GoW in order to get the win and wasn’t able to do that, so Allen picked up the slack from Jeffry and gave the voters a very entertaining read. Hit after hit and laugh after laugh, Allen showed why he was favored in this battle, winning 7-0. Nice try Jeffry, keep at it and congrats to Allen.

Round 2 Battle Reviews: Semi-Finals



A.T. vs. Token:
A.T. did it again and fell short when the pressure was on. He even used a Gauntlet wordplay (something only Marv J would do), that seemed forced. His other three bars were ok-ish, but not enough to propel him to victory against the likes of Token. Toke dropped a very impressive four bars and showed A.T. how winning is done and advanced to the Finals. Congrats Token. (Token wins: 4-1).

King vs. Allen Knight:
Boy, this was a close one. Allen came out swinging, King came out swinging, and voters eyes were crossed from all of the punches that were thrown. King had the Fault Line, Comp., and nameplay that hit and Allen provided his own with a laughing matter punch, a ugly mug punch, and a 2nd place punch. This was one to be remembered, for sure. During all of the confusion, there was a mix up in the vote count, but was later determined that Allen won by one vote and advances to the finals 3-2.
