I just dont understand how he comes off as a thug to people??

I completely agree with Nise. If Drake's got a problem with someone, he has to handle it somehow. He didn't have gun threats in this verse or go out of character, his money and affiliations speak for themselves, he's more powerful than Common regardless of who's the better musician.
