Epic Center

I sit in this cell chained and bound, my fate is already decided
My future is as gone as my past.. they say theres no way to fight it
Its hot in here, scarred faces surround my every move
They stare.. so judgmental, as if they've forgotten that they're here too.
I heard the sentry's talking, they speak of rain and thunder
I smell it in the air.. its simple aroma takes away from my pain and hunger
Stripped down till they need me, I own nothing and Im called nothing
But then the silence comes ..oh yes it always come before Im something
The ground trembles at my feet, I can see dust and rocks shake
For the first time since the last I feel alive.. let me out for god's sake
My chains bind me tightly, but I feel them loosen and ease
My fatigue and hunger no longer a burden, I feel the weight leave my knees
I can hear the world as clear as day, every man, women and child
The guards open my cell.. and call for me to come out
I raise up slowly from my corner.. as if to savor the whole day
Still chained, they walk me down what feels like the worlds longest hallway
The ground shakes harder as the noises get louder.. I feel it even more
We're walking towards the light, they hand me my armor.. then my shield and my sword.
My binds are released, I feel as free as the birds above me
There's a crowd that's been waiting.. impatiently to love me
My lords, thank you for this moment, I praise thee ever so greatly
There's another in this circle.. his eyes curse and hate me
I am ready, never has a day been so amazing.. I can do battle and live
The rain feels beautiful on my skin, the drops slide down to my ribs
The fight has begun.. I expect nothing and hope for death
We are artist.. our timing is perfect and we feel every breath
Mud splashes under my feet, as if the earth couldn't withstand me further
With every slash of our swords, we begin to understand eachother
I know his moves, he recognizes mine.. his streigh is emmens
The crowd is at there feet shouting, waiting to see who shall die at the end
My left arm has gone numb.. the weight of the shield slows me down
I go for the final strike as he moves.. then thrust as his legs hit the ground
His blood covers me slightly, at first I wondered if it was mine
It was so quiet for a second.. each drop of rain was like chimes
I was the victor this day, the crowed applauded and cheered
The champion was declared.. that moment did away with that I feared
I have been blessed by the gods, and cursed by the mortals
They walk me away.. the noises dissapears as if Ive walked through a portal
Im ones again bound and fed my days meal
and now await the next moment that I hold my armor, sword and shield.

Wow, that is full on. Full on. I didn't have time to read it twice, and I had to vote in haiku.
But I need to read that again, and again, and then, maybe again.

So much imagery. And characterization. And plot.

The bit where he battles, or gets ready to battle I think, I'm there, in HD.

I'm not used to pieces that don't rhyme, so my reading stagnated because I was expecting a melodical flow,
and sometimes it did have that, and other times, it didn't. So that was something new for me, more of a story piece.

I got the 'Ben Hur' flutter.

I felt the era. I saw the stadium. The people. The lions. Gates. The armor.
I saw the wine and grapes lol, and the dusty grounds, the sandals, the swords,
The Gladiator.

Full on Wordz AhGod.
Packed.

That was pretty cool. Interesting way to go.

Don't have time to go into details, but that's probably a good thing.
I'm sure you need those four hours.

For me, an interesting aspect is the story book feel. I was expecting something different.
So it was a shock and quite refreshing to read something totally different to what I was expecting.

Your writing skills are impressive.

And you obviously have a broad spectrum of writing styles.

I can imagine you being brutal in a battle and slaughtering with acid spit.

Before they come out, I wonder if those insults are scared of you?

Haha this was dope dude. I thought it was about some dude locked up in the pen until it turned out like he was a gladiator so that was a twist. I thought there were like maybe 2-4 lines that didnt quite rhyme properly but everything else was on point man. Great written
