My world. My queen.
I caught her painting the skies;
glassy eyes - brushing the edges of eternity
Pledging with words to be, she smiles:
“One day, dad, i’m going to be a star!”

With her burning gleam,
aligning the heavens with certainty
“Hope” was a beautiful burgundy
A horizon; Empty canvas of birds and bees

Who am I? I am fate.
To the average eye I'm merely a passerby
in truth I'm a pawn masquerading as a mastermind
ever attentive to the wall clock and its passing time
somehow tragedy always makes its way to where passion lies
ten minutes to destiny, any lingering silence plowed by the wails of a crying child
I attempt to push it out my mind, turn this defiant scowl into a dying smile
so I lie in prowl, subconsciously staring out into a sea of emotions
if fate were revealed in this second, every one would start seizing the moment
but these people were chosen, they need a reminder that their lives were given

with sacrifices made by those who chose to toe the line,
a martyr in death, letting everyone believe the show was mine
ten minutes till that awaited hour, sacred and fated hour
where I as a fly do my part to tip the weight of power against the greatest powers
as thoughts flood, I feel my mind drift, dazed and sedated
and seem to find myself once more gazing at faces
the random passerby, the way people ignore fate is amazing
but we bring love to the world through the hatred of hatred

At last, the moment I've long strived for, the time is nigh
but as the mother heads towards the same train I cry inside

without the building blocks of life it would be useless build
I'm still for the cause, but now your adding something new to the deal
one minor setback wont be cause for the movement to yield
so that's it, I grab my suitcase and I leave, a child's death's just not me

Kind of a one sided battle.


Sammy, I liked the style at first. Loved the first half of this. It was different to somebody that's been used to the same RB style since 2005. Your lines were short which usually bothers me because that normally takes away from the depth and descriptions your piece could potentially have. I felt like your wording and poetic presence covered enough to make that idea less painful. Because the lines were short your rhymes flowed right off the tongue. One into another. I liked that a lot. BUT. After the halfway mark you started repeating rhymes and lines from before with slight changes in the wording. I understand the poetic decision but in a Sacred Scriptures match for me that was your way of shooting yourself in the foot. I didn't like it at all. It seemed lazy and ruined all the build up you had going for you. If this piece manages to win that's because of the new age of writing I guess. Any RB original will agree with me though, you buried yourself with the second half of this. I'm sorry.

King Prince, it's a bit unfair considering your opponent dropped before you (unless this was done via blind drops, then kudos to the mod). Not only did you almost triple the size of Sammy's verse but you managed to completely outwrite her/him too. This in my opinion is what a Sacred Scriptures verse should look like. Not just in the structure but in the way it's written as well. The imagery was on point from start to finish with a fluent story tell. The wording was smooth and helped you describe to the reader what was going on. The rhyme scheme was simple yet not dull and made for an enjoyable technical read. The concept wasn't too cliche. Overall a really nice drop. You didn't try anything risque. You just wrote a solid topical verse and pulled it off smoothly.

Vote King Prince in a matter of "less risk earns the reward".
