FWIW there are no alpha males in humans.
Species with actual alphas have clear hierarchy. We're more similar to bonobos, where the game is to figure out where you stand in the structure; and we use sex and negotiation as tools, in order to foster connection.
In humans, connection > domination.
Being alpha over your girlfriend is about as retarded as being the coach of a little league team. It's like saying, "I'm the king of this country that wants me to rule it, anyways."
IMO it's all about leadership. But leadership is just about doing your thing, honesty and transparency.
Girls settle for this "alpha" shit because like 90% of them never meet a guy who just straight up goes after goals and lives his life like a boss.
My favorite thing about the "alpha male" term is how many right wing dudes are using it, lately. You get a dude like Rush limbaugh (sp?) talking about how he will take someone out the back of the gym and beat them. And I'm like NO dude, you won't. There was never a time in your fat life where anyone was legit afraid of you as a human being.
