A whirl pool ran hot would help obviously won't cure it, also an epsalm salt bath. Both work wonders at easing tension off the body which thus drops the CNS in a relaxed state to alleviate nerve compression

Locked up? If so, go to a chiropractor and have them adjust you. That's happened to me twice, one trip to the chiropractor and your back at least to 70%.

Jiu jitsu man. That and yoga, can't recommend em enough.
Yoga is sick nasty for injury prevention. BJJ you can do into your 70s if you take your time.
