    Tin-Man

She said I have no heart, that I don't care anymore,
no notebook or walk to remember with Mandy Moore.
I can't relate to her taste or the image she's made,
I can't embrace in the change or Channing Tatum charades.
I can't inflate her ego or the people she craves,
I can't hide the mistakes or the life that she hates.
I'll never be the dreamboat she wants me to be,
an ordinary guy in this lie she's got stuck on repeat.
She's self absorbed on the shore, looking out at the sea,
a mermaid inside -- afraid to realize it's sand at her feet.
Can't meet her standards, feeling empty as she screams,
fail to feed into her needs or her Disney Princess schemes.
She's a Snow White locked up in the Tower of Terror,
I'm a coward, an error, Halloween town's Mayor.
She looks into the mirror and it's clear there ain't none fairer,
and there's nothing more I desire than something to share.
    I just can't... there's a void inside my chest,
it's easier to destroy than bring light to what's left.
    I can't say what's next, wouldn't bother to guess,
just a tin-man who's done seeking a heart in this mess...

That shit was deep and I could relate to a level that it kinda made me scared of my enemies again but also so in line with what I wrote. Good read... I'll go check out the other one.

This was really well written man. I enjoyed it throughly! Bittersweet and to the point. I also know it was from a real place and felt like something you meant in the language. The monotony of standards a man has to live up to in the relationship with a person who idolizes that chick flick movie era we grew up in. It’s a refreshing take on a dying subject. Romance isn’t dead - but it also isn’t what the woman you’re talking about perceives it to be. The expectations of love in the movies in contrast to how it effects the relationships we have in our real lives. I have nothing bad to say about this one. Smooth. Well written. Good work.
