IS there any point in getting a hardware compressor if you have an interface since the signal from the mic wouldnt hit the compressor first? A compressor would help my quality out greatly if I could use one with my firebox.

Answer yes ... hardware compressors add their own flavor through thier circuitry and sound around 10x better then plugs ... if I was you I would get an outboard compressor and some nice outboard pres

BUT... a cheap compressor isn't necessarily better than software. it's always better to compress your signal b4 it hits the interface but cheap compressors can sound like shit as much as cheap pres.
