    Opey, Kris, Paze, Keeb anyone.

Listen ive been having a hard time trying to get my audio program set up, i was think about saving my recording program to a USB, taking it to a musician place and letting them make it work at there place, but i was wonderin if they get it working at their place and save the project to the recording program on the USb, if i got back home and started up the program do you think the same project would be saved, and i could use it on my computer?

Well common layout files are .omfs. They can be used on Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic and more.
They load up where the audio files should be placed on the project and if youre not using Pro Tools either in the studio or at home theyre good for transfering whole projects. Im sure they save plugins too but there might be some issues with locations and stuff.

Check out Mackie Tranction (or something like that). Its good for convertting project files off multi track recorders into omfs and I think it even does ptfs.

    lolol
he's not talking about a single session

he's talking about moving a ENTIRE program from computer to computer with a USB drive. So someone else can setup his app for him.

your going to run into registry problems man.

What audio program are you trying to setup?

Ok. The proper way to do this is to create an external boot drive. You can load Windows and all your programs onto the external drive and take it anywhere you go. You just plug it in to any computer and you're running your programs on their computer. The only thing you'll run into is drivers needing to be installed if they have different hardware than you. You should find out what they have and preload the drivers before you go over there.

This is common practice for freelance engineers.
