50 CENT is facing legal action from an author who alleges the rapper used the plot from his book as the concept for his movie and album BEFORE I SELF DESTRUCT.

The In Da Club hitmaker scored a chart hit with the 2009 album and turned the record into a film of the same name, which he both wrote and directed.

Novelist Shadrach Winstead has filed a lawsuit at the U.S. District Court of New Jersey alleging 50 Cent took the idea for the multi-media project from his 2008 book, The Preacher’s Son-But The Streets Turned Me Into A Gangster.

In the legal documents, Winstead claims the rapper "infringed the copyright by publishing and selling an audio visual work (a movie released in DVD format), coupled with an audio recording. In many cases, the content and word choice used by Defendants in their work is identical to that used in Plaintiff’s book."

The lawsuit seeks an undisclosed amount of damages as well as all the profits made from 50 Cent's movie and album, according to Allhiphop.com.
