are you going to elaborate on some topic.
^. I've tried to forumulate something from my own experiences, but to be honest, i've never really experienced something that could grip a reader, and leave a lasting impact on them. Thus I came here (last stop.)

thats the whole point of poetry, to make the ordinary extraordinary
to make average life seem supernatural
you dont need to experience death to write about it, you just have to make the reader FEEL what you felt when you experienced something that "killed" you

if you cant find something that connects with people then you shouldn't be a writer. Think about it like this, we are all different, but we all have similar feelings and interest. You have to search for something within you that sparks a deep gut wrenching feeling that anybody can relate to, and then you just write it out on paper. 90% of the time people will be able to relate to your sentiments, and if they cant they'll at least acknowledge the effort you put into your writing.
